WBER History:   I joined WBER back in the summer of 1993 during my college years to get more radio experience. After graduating from college, I followed Jennifer V to WMAX and became her assistant. In the mid nineties corporate radio invaded Rochester and destroyed any more creativity left on commercial radio. The spring of 1997 brought the timely death of WMAX; corporate radio had dealt the death blow. I then moved on to work at WCMF for a couple of  years. I finally decided that commercial radio is indeed crap. I’m thrilled to be back and working at WBER, hands down the best radio station in Rochester. It’s great to be hosting First Impressions and previewing all the new music sent to WBER.

Real World: I’ve been in Rochester for most of my life and graduated from Penfield High School in 1991. From there I went to Saint Bonaventure University and graduated in 1995. Radio is my first love, but didn’t quite work out as a full time gig. I went back to school at night and now I take care of sick computers and fix them. As long as I  can do something creative, I’m happy. I’m very thankful that money never became my primary pursuit in life.

5 Favorite Alternative Albums/Bands.
Talking Heads “The Name of This Band is Talking Heads”
St. Etienne “Good Humor”
The Sundays “Static and Silence”
Thomas Dolby “The Golden Age of the Wireless”
Barenaked Ladies “Gordon”

Best Job: Being Jennifer V’s assistant at WMAX. Jennifer taught me so much about radio, she’s always been the best female air personality in Rochester.

First Concert: Duran Duran and Erasure in 1986 at Fingerlakes.

Cool Hobby: Playing acoustic guitar. I actually got kicked out of the Park Ave Fest for performing on the corner. I’m working on a set to play at coffeehouses and bars in Rochester. Hopefully I’m better than that guy with the accordion who’s nearly at every event in this city.
